Why Biochemistry and Molecular Biology?

Biochemistry is the backbone of medicine.

The M.S. in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology program lends itself as an attractive training program and launching pad for a research-intensive career in medicine. The program is committed to providing graduate students with a unique setting in which to learn how biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology and genetics can be used to solve significant problems in public health and medicine. Significant emphasis is placed on the communication of science, with multiple opportunities for students to hone their written and oral communication skills throughout their training in the program.

Graduates of the program seek careers primarily in academic, government or biotechnology industry research. Most of our students transition to Ph.D., M.D., DDS, J.D. or MBA programs, using skills and training from Georgetown to propel their future academic and research careers.
