Our program teaches core concepts and skills through required core courses, advanced elective courses, and a 4-credit internship. Our courses expose students to advanced methods in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, and laboratory and literature-based research. A significant number of hands-on, lab-based courses help students to develop research expertise.

A well-organized, intensive capstone internship program allows students to work with research mentors in Georgetown University Medical Center laboratories, or off-campus in government agencies such as the NIH, FDA, NIST, as well as at research departments of biotechnology companies. The internship program culminates with students presenting their research at triannual poster presentation sessions.
