Research Opportunities

Students in the Biochemistry & Molecular Biology master’s program have access to numerous resources for enriching their research experience.

Lab Training

The program curriculum is designed to provide an experiential and methodological learning environment, laying the groundwork for our students’ future careers in academia and industry. Students gain significant hands-on training experience by performing in-depth lab experiments in various lab-based courses.

Advanced lab courses include the following:

BIOT 5007/5008: Laboratory Applications of Biotechnology/Lab Applications of Biochemistry

BCHB 5360: Applications of Cell Culture

BIOT 5190, BCHB 5350, BCHB 5370, BCHB 5750, BIOT 5270 OR BIOT 6100

Faculty and Department Research

The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular & Cellular Biology is one of the largest research clusters at Georgetown, with over a dozen labs spanning eight areas of research. Students can identify potential research mentors before enrollment.

Students interested in doing their research internships in department laboratories can visit our Faculty Research page.
